| BLASTOMYCOSIS | |
| Q | October 22, 2009 I was the one that posted the question on your site about the anti-fungal drug for blastomycosis. Thank you for responding so quickly. I am having another problem that I thought you might be able to give your opinion on. I can't keep his temp down without Rimadyl - the anti-inflammatory. I have some natural medicine type people saying that I should get him off of that and that the high temp is good and that means he is fighting the infection. Is there something herbal that you might recommend that could keep his temp down or at least have some of the anti-inflammatory properties. When his temp is up it is hard to get him to eat. I don't feel like he is going to completely get better if he isn't eating healthily. Thanks! |

| S | October 26, 2009 Water is the best source for high fever and inflammation. Water will flush your pet's system of impurities. You may need to use a baby bottle to flood his body with at least 1 ounce of water per body-weight-pound, each day. Every time he urinates, he will eliminate that much more of the impurities. 1st priority: The More Water The Better – Preferably Distilled Water A dogs normal temperature is 101.5˚ to 102.2˚ Fahrenheit. Fast on vegetable broth and pure water until temperature becomes normal. Avoid solid food when there is high fever. The Lapacho tree is known to resist fungus. Inner linings of this tree is called Taheebo Herb or Pau D'Arco Herb. Since both Taheebo and Intraconazole are anti-fungal, it is best not to use them together. Herbs n Pets |
| Q | September 28, 2009 What are your suggestions for treating a dog with Blastomycosis? He is on Remedol and Intraconazole currently. |
| Q & S | |
| S | September 29, 2009 He has a very good chance of recovery with the current treatment you are using. Remedol a fever reducer/pain reliever Intraconazole an anti-fungal If you were in the jungle with no other option, I would suggest you pull a bark or leaves from the Lapacho tree (Taheebo), brew a concoction and serve continuously.
